5 Signs Your Battery Needs Replacement

The battery is the electrical heart of your vehicle. In Colombia's tropical climate, batteries tend to degrade faster due to the heat.

1

Sign 1 — Slow or difficult start

When you turn the key and the engine takes longer than usual to start, or you hear a clicking sound without the engine turning over, the battery may be depleted.

2

Sign 2 — Dim or flickering lights

Dashboard lights or headlights that appear dimmer than usual indicate the battery is not delivering enough voltage.

3

Sign 3 — Rotten egg smell

A strong sulfur smell near the hood indicates the battery is releasing hydrogen sulfide gas. Take the vehicle to a technician immediately.

4

Sign 4 — Swollen or deformed casing

If the sides of the battery are bulging, it was exposed to excessive heat or overcharging. A swollen battery must be replaced immediately.

5

Sign 5 — Battery warning light on the dashboard

The battery icon on the dashboard can indicate problems with the battery or the alternator. Never ignore this light.
